The Sixteen international Guitar Art Summer Fest August 15th - 20th, 2022 Herceg Novi - Montenegro

In August, Herceg Novi becomes the city of Guitars. Guitar Art Summer Fest is one of the cultural highlights of Montenegro during the summer period.

The Festival gained momentum and popularity, both nationally and internationally, thanks to top artists and excellent teachers who participate in the Festival, which is unique in its symbiosis of educational and concert programs, and with numerous accompanying programs such as exhibitions and lectures.

Contentful concert program of the Guitar Art Summer Fest is held on the famous stages of the Old Town, the concerts at Kanli Tower, Forte Mare fortress and Music Square, turn nights in Herceg Novi into a real pleasure.

Over the years, the Festival has brought some of the biggest names in rock, jazz, flamenco, ethno and classical guitar.

This year, Festival will be opened by the best guitarist on the planet , Tommy Emmanuel, who will perform on August 15th on Kanli Tower. During his half-century-long career, Emmanuel visited the Balkans several times, and every time the tickets for the concerts of this famous guitarist were sold out. The biggest rock and roll magazine "Rolling Stone" pronounced him as the best guitarist in 1990, while the readers of the biggest media authority for guitarists "Guitar Player" overwhelmingly chose Emmanuel as the best acoustic guitarist of all time!

Tickets are now on sale online via new.tickets.rs and at box offices of Kanli Tower and Park Hall, at the price of 35 euros.

The second night of the Festival is reserved for the Balkan guitar legend Vlatko Stefanovski, who will, on August 16th, perform with the Kragujevac Academic Accordion Orchestra at Kanli Kula.

It will be a spectacle of acoustic-electric guitar and an orchestra of 30 accordions. The audience will hear a specially prepared program that will include works by Piazzolla, Morricone and Stefanovski in new arrangements. Tickets are on sale via new.tickets.rs and at box offices of Kanli Tower and Park Hall, at the price of 20 euros.

Classical guitar virtuosos from Montenegro will perform on August 17th at Music Square. Duo Duende consists of Aleksandra Tepavčević and Ivana Cikić. The duo performs the works of some of the most important composers of guitar literature, including: F. Tarrega, I. Albenis, E. Gismonti, A. Piazzolla and many others.

The second part of the evening is reserved for the talented guitarist Petar Dobričanin, winner of numerous awards, who performed at concerts throughout Europe, as well as at prestigious festivals held in the region.

 

By now iconic concerts on Music Square in the Old Town have free entrance. As part of the fourth festival evening, classical guitarist from Herceg Novi Aleksandar Bubanja will perform and it will be a unique opportunity for the local audience to hear this guitar virtuoso.

The second part of the evening is reserved for Cenk Erdoğan, a world-renowned guitarist who performs in the USA and Europe. In 2020, he received a Grammy Award for his collaboration with Jim Kimo West in the "Best New Age Album" category. His last tour was with the International Guitar Night Project.

 

The flamenco spectacle brought by the talented singer Tamara Jokić, will take place on August 19th at Music Square. She will present her new album "Transibérica" released for the Portuguese Sony Music SME Iberia, which represents a fusion of Spanish and Portuguese music made under the auspices of the famous guitarist Javier Limón.

Tamara Jokić is the first artist from Serbia to release an album for the prestigious Portuguese Sony Music. Tamara Jokić performs in Herceg Novi with Dušan Popović Lipovac, a successful guitarist from Serbia, accompanied by musicians on bass and percussion.

The closing ceremony of the Festival which will take place on August 20th at the Square of Music, is reserved for one of the best Spanish classical guitarists of the younger generation, Rafael Aguirre. In the 2021/22 season, he made his debut with the National Orchestra of Spain, the São Paulo State Symphony and the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, performing 10 different concertos for guitar and orchestra. He performed in halls such as Carnegie Hall, Verbier Festival halls, Konzerthaus, Tchaikovsky Hall, St. Petersburg Philharmonic and many others.

Traditionally, the 16th Guitar Art Summer Fest will close with a recital of the best Montenegrin professors, students and students of classical guitar.

Guitar Visual Art will traditionally present an exhibition at the well-known gallery on Trg Belavista - Suy Rayder, and will present artists from Herceg Novi Vitka Vujnović, Vanja Berberović and Boris Šuberić, who each in their own format and medium record the city of art Herceg Novi in which summer Guitar Art takes its place.
