BRANKO BAKO JOVANOVIĆ

Srbija

Branko Jovanović Bako is a prominent Serbian musician, tamburitza player, and guitarist, also known as the world’s best tamburitza player. His love for music was evident from a very young age. Growing up in a musically gifted family, surrounded by the tamburitza and guitar, Bako began developing an interest in music as a child. His first lessons on these instruments came from his uncle, Dragan Jovanović Šanjika, a renowned guitarist.

At only fifteen years old, Branko had the opportunity to perform in front of audiences in many European and world cities. During his education, he won numerous prestigious awards in competitions both domestically and internationally. After finishing music school, where he specialized in classical guitar, Bako applied his knowledge to tamburitza, instrument which will make him famous.

As a studio musician, Bako had the chance to collaborate with major stars of traditional and world music, such as Miroslav Tadić, Stochelo Rosenberg, Šaban Šaulić, Lepa Brena, Haris Džinović, Ljuba Aličić, Slavko Banjac, Snežana Đurišić, Zvonko Bogdan, and many others. While recording an album for actress Mercedes Echerer, on the composition Schnuckenack, he stood out with a virtuoso solo part on the tamburitza, while the rest of the album's tracks shone with his masterful skill.

His performance with great guitarists Stochelo Rosenberg and Miroslav Tadić at the Guitar Art Festival was a unique opportunity to fulfill his lifelong wish to play with these artists. Branko Jovanović Bako has also performed with prestigious orchestras, including the RTS Orchestra led by Vlada Panović, the Marko Marković Brass Band, the Gypsy Rhapsody Band by Perica Vasić, and many other ensembles.

He has released four studio albums: Bakovo kolo (2003), Maren muj (2008), Smak sveta (2016) and Restless strings (2025).
