Sándor Papp (born 1965) graduated with excellent results from the Bratislava Music Academy (Slovakia), where he studied under Jozef Zsapka. He participated in several masterclasses in Greece, Spain, and Bohemia with renowned guitarists such as Roberto Aussel, Wolfgang Lendle, David Russell, Gianfranco Volpato, and Alirio Díaz. In 1990, he was a finalist in the International Guitar Competition in Paris. He has given numerous concert tours across Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Croatia, Mexico, and Australia. Sándor Papp has premiered several significant works, including the Guitar Concerto by Chilean composer Letelier with the Debrecen Philharmonic Orchestra, Richard Charlton’s Mosaic for guitar, strings, and percussion, and István Szigeti’s Nuovo Capriccio for guitar and strings. He has also frequently performed one of the most celebrated guitar concertos, Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.

He is the founder of the Debrecen Guitar Quartet in his hometown and actively performs chamber music, including collaborations with vibraphonists. Papp regularly gives concerts and masterclasses in Hungary and abroad, both as a soloist and chamber musician. He has recorded four CDs (1997, 2002, 2005, and 2008). Currently, he serves as dean and professor at the Béla Bartók Music Faculty of the University of Miskolc. In 2007, he earned his doctoral degree from the Bratislava Music Academy. He is also the artistic director of the Gyöngyös International Guitar Festival.
